To an ever-increasing extent mobility is a pre-requisite, as well as an impetus, for economic development. By continual reduction of specific energy consumption and emissions, it is possible to limit, or even reduce, environmental pollution - despite increasing traffic. Please see environmental reports for all important measures as well as current data and facts concerning the current situation at Münster/ Osnabrück Airport.
Further interesting information is available on the website of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Deutscher Verkehrsflughäfen (ADV).
Münster/ Osnabrück Airport also places importance on sustainability and renewable sources of energy. Since 2007 FMO has been operating a large solar energy system with a maximum output of 150 kW from the roof of the Cargo Terminal. Furthermore in 2009 a distance heating pipe linked to a biomass combined heat and power unit was laid and connected to the FMO heating network. The modules of the power station produce 4 MW of electric power and 5 MW of thermal output.
In order to protect people living close to Münster/ Osnabrück Airport from flight noise, a voluntary noise abatement programme was instigated in 2003. The programme includes measures which far exceed current statutory requirements. The measurement results and evaluation of noise monitoring can be found here ».
